Evidently, I'm being sent to Germany. On Tuesday. Mind you, I don't have a passport. Hell, I'm wondering if I even have enough clean *clothing* for the trip.

I *do* know, however, that I have enough battery power to last me a week. GBA can handle a week on the NiMH pack, I've got 2 Li-Ions for the laptop (the sweet Libretto of joy), and 2 sets of rechargables for both the Palm and the MP3 player ought to do.

The Libby's my only concern, in that I'll need to make sure I have a power adapter. That and my shaver.

Hrm... the Tivo's going to delete my shows before I get to see them, isn't it. Crap. I was really getting into Andromeda, too.

Oh yeah, and my cell phone is useless over there.

Then there's the fact that I'm the only person in a real support position here until my manager gets back (around the same time that I will)

Concerns aside, I'm going away! w00000t!!! Germany! B33R! Europe!

Knowing me, there'll be too much to do, and I'll end up inside due to a lack of imagination. Maybe I oughta pack my sketchbook.

What to do, what to do...

You know, there used to be a time when I considered the PalmOS devices to be perfection.

That time is long since passed. $400 for a Palm m500, or $200 for a monochrome iPaq (with double the storage).

Oh, and all you anti-M$ tree-hugging hippies, go someplace that gives a rat's ass about what you think. If it bugs you that much, get it and install pocketlinux or something. Cretins.

Now, back to our math lesson. m505, the top of the line Palm, costs $449. The top of the line iPaq? $649. With 8x the RAM, a nicer screen, and other happiness. Did I mention media playing features (just in case?) Or wireless? (Again, just in case?)

Then, the *real* top of the line, the Sony Clie, is $499. Even then, it's overpriced.

Say what you will about Windows CE/Pocket PC, I think the hardware's definitely beating the snot out of the Palms these days. Hell, the iPaq can probably replace my laptop 99% of the time. Now *that's* something I can use.
